Michael DeCamp, a Minnesota native long known in local kitchens as “Young Chef,” began his culinary career at just 17, training under Chef Tim McKee at the iconic D’Amico Cucina. He sharpened his technique and culinary perspective at celebrated restaurants including Campiello, Chez Foley, and La Belle Vie, and later broadened his fine-dining experience in Chicago at NoMi while staging in award-winning kitchens such as Tru and Charlie Trotter’s. After returning to the Twin Cities in 2005 to rejoin Chef McKee at La Belle Vie, Michael brought his deep culinary expertise to Jester Concepts in 2015, playing a key role in opening and leading Monello and Constantine.
Today, Michael oversees Jester Concepts’ executive team and restaurant operations, balancing a chef-driven mindset with strategic business leadership. His approach centers on seasonal cooking, ingredient-forward menu development, and creating memorable, guest-focused hospitality that builds strong regulars and long-tenured teams. Michael also guided the concept evolution and culinary direction at Butcher & The Boar, where the restaurant’s meat-centric, Midwestern-inspired identity reflects his vision.
Recognized for his curiosity, creativity, and commitment to shaping restaurants that feel authentic to their community, Michael continues to influence Jester’s growth and brand development. Outside the kitchen, he prioritizes family and finds inspiration through travel and exploring regional food cultures.
